Hishimochi
The hishimochi (rice cake) displayed during the Doll’s Festival carries wishes for young girls’ health and the prosperity of future generations. Doll’s Festival is one of Japan’s five traditional seasonal festivals.
Each color holds a special meaning:
Peach symbolizes protection from evil and reverence for ancestors.
White represents longevity and the prosperity of future generations.
Green signifies health and protection from misfortune.
As new buds emerge from beneath the snow and peach blossoms begin to bloom, we celebrate the arrival of spring and wish for the healthy growth of young girls.
